Vision Not on Display

The Grumpy Vegan has been reading some of the comments written on the Internet inspired by the Best/Francione on/off debate. Much of it appears to be full of hate and vitriol. No doubt some of it is inspired by Best’s and Francione’s own writings. They frequently display intolerance of others and their opinions. We don’t need dick duels between egos for claims of holder of the sacred flame of animal rights. We don’t need to know how many vegans can dance on the head of a pin. We do need debate, however. It needs to be intelligent. What’s more, it must be visionary. This isn’t a question of who is our leader. It’s more to do with whether we can inspire each other to behave like one.
