Here is my musing over an idea about making certain species Iconic Ambassadors for all animals.
I realize I’m on risky ground with what I’m about to suggest. I’m not even sure if I agree with it myself. But it seems to me that some animals deserve a special status. Of course, all animals should have this designation. But there’s an argument to be made in extending the concept of the Great Ape Project, which proclaims the uniqueness of our closest relatives: the chimpanzee, gorilla and orang-utan.
