Thought for the Day

The challenge for the British animal welfare movement is to determine how it will respond to the next general election to be held in less than two years.

Some groups will fail to understand animal welfare as a political issue and will ignore the general election. Others will condemn all political parties regardless of their policies and accomplishments. Still others will go it alone and organize ineffectual campaigns in the general election which are more about promoting themselves than achieving political victories for animals. But there may be a one or two or more who will see that there are opportunities to work together in a coalition on a shared agenda of issues at the local and national level.
