Come near me and I will bite you! When burglar Tristan Maidment stole grumpy Micky the Macaw from the Frome Pet and Aquatic Center in Somerset, England, he left a trial of blood, which was enough for the police to make a DNA sample that led to his conviction. Maidment admitted burglary and two animal cruelty offenses plus other miscellaneous crimes. The court imposed two suspended sentences and ordered him to undergo treatment for alcoholism. No penalties were imposed for the animal cruelty offences but he was ordered to pay Micky’s “owner” 250 UK pounds (about $400) in compensation. The Brutal Truth Award goes to the 50-year-old Micky the Macaw for crime-fighting across the species barrier!
