Matthew Scully, author of Dominion.Last night the Grumpy Vegan was one of more than 50 guests who enjoyed an intimate evening with three celebrated authors on the moral and legal status of animals at the Hollywood Hills, California-home of Farm Sanctuary president, Gene Bauston and his parents, Gene and Kay Baur. Jeffrey Masson (When Elephants Weep), Tom Regan (The Case for Animal Rights) and Matthew Scully (Dominion) chatted and signed books for the enthusiastic group. Food and beverages were generously provided by Jivana Vegan, Juliano’s Raw restaurant, Native Foods and Vegin’ Out. The evening was in support of the work of Animals and Society Institute, Culture and Animals Foundation and Farm Sanctuary. Kim Stallwood is an independent scholar and author on animal rights. His forthcoming book, Animal Dharma, explores what it means to care deeply about animals.
