{"id":345,"date":"2007-10-16T04:19:05","date_gmt":"2007-10-16T08:19:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.grumpyvegan.com\/blog\/?p=345"},"modified":"2007-10-16T04:19:05","modified_gmt":"2007-10-16T08:19:05","slug":"345","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/grumpyvegan.com\/blog\/2007\/10\/16\/345\/","title":{"rendered":"He&#8217;s Back!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.grumpyvegan.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/brutal.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image\" src=\"http:\/\/www.grumpyvegan.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/08\/brutal.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a>Well, the Grumpy Vegan is back after a three-week hiatus of U.S. travel and whatnot.<\/p>\n<p>This included speaking at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lclark.edu\/org\/saldf\/conference.html\">15th Annual Animal Law Conference<\/a> at the National Center for Animal Law at the Lewis and Clark Law School in Portland, OR and at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.animalsandsociety.org\/conference07.htm\">Becoming the Change<\/a>, the 22nd annual International Compassionate Living Festival, which was organized by the Culture and Animals Foundation and the Animals and Society Institute.<\/p>\n<p>In Portland, I made two trips to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.powells.com\/\">Powell&#8217;s<\/a> with my good friend and ASI colleague, Bee Friedlander. Powell&#8217;s has to be the best book shop the Grumpy Vegan has ever visited. It&#8217;s huge, it&#8217;s organized and it includes new, used and remaindered books. Among the titles purchased was one that I&#8217;m particularly looking forward to reading is Brian Luke&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.powells.com\/biblio\/61-9780252074240-1\"><em>Brutal: Manhood and the Exploitation of Animals<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I also spent five days each with Bee working in the ASI Ann Arbor, MI office and with <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gseart.com\/coe.html\">Sue Coe<\/a> in New York, when we discussed our forthcoming project, Topsy, soon-to-be-published in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fantagraphics.com\"><em>Blab 18<\/em><\/a> and much more.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well, the Grumpy Vegan is back after a three-week hiatus of U.S. travel and whatnot.
