Hi Kim, I just read your review of Umberto D<\/em><\/a> by DeSica — really glad you’re promoting it, since, as you know, his best known film is The Bicycle Thief<\/em> — have you seen Scorsese’s My Voyage to Italy<\/em>? He discusses Umberto D<\/em> at great length, showing that gut-wrenching scene at the animal shelter (I burst into tears at that point!) — Scorsese believes this is a greater film than Bicycle Thief<\/em>. If you haven’t seen Scorsese’s great documentary, be sure to see it soon (it’s a superb film history lesson on Italian neo-realism).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
